It is a Polyurethane (PU) resin composed of two parts: resin and hardener.
The mixing ratio is 1: 1.
Fast Drop is the easiest solution to produce doming, no equipement being required
Doming consists in applying a clear dome of resin on printed labels to protect them and enhance their appearance by producing a three-dimensional effect.
Fast Drop polyurethane resin can be applied on many non-porous adhesive and thermo-adhesive materials such as: inkjet substrates, polyester films, vinyl, etching laminates, aluminum, brass, magnets, ABS, thermo-adhesive films.
Due to the high level of product UV stability, shelf life of an unopened resin box is guaranteed for a 18 month period after manufacture date.
Boxes of resin can be reopened several times within 6 months of first use.
Fast Drop resin has been developed to have a relatively high surface tension, so that when it reaches a sharp edge, it hangs and stays in the shape of a dome until loosing fluidity and hardening
However, there is always a maximum that can be applied on a label. When weight is too important for the surface tension to be maintained, resin will overflow.
Non-aqueous inkjet (no water-based ink), thermal and color laser, eco-solvent, printing and cutting machines with solvent ink as well as traditional printing processes such as screen printing and lithography.
Depending on the shape, size and finish of the sticker surface, it is possible to make a very high (3 mm) or very low (1.5 mm) 3D resin dome.
Fast Drop doming resin is formulated to withstand outdoor environment.
Durability had been tested by many rigorous procedures and shown an excellent resistance of 8 years to UV and yellowing, as well as outdoor weathering.
Standard calculation is based on 1 gr of resin covering a label surface of approximately 6 cm2.
So just calculate the area to dome and do a simple calculation to know the volume of resin you need for this area.
At an ideal room temperature of 22-24 ° C, complete curing time of the material is 2-3 hours (24 hours before shipping).
For reduced curing time (1/2 hour), domed labels can be placed in Poly Drop oven at 30/40 ° C.
File preparation: always leave at least 1 mm between each label. Preferably work on small formats (A4). As far as possible, round corners and avoid cutting sharp-edged contours.
Printing: When inks are completely dry, carefully remove paper between labels without lifting label edges. Then flatten with a roller.
Cutting: Adjust the plotter cutting strength not to reach the paper backing, so that resin can spread over the label surface by capillary action then stop at the edges. If the backing paper is slightly cut, resin will tend to spread outside.
